I think one of the hardest lessons for me to *grasp* when I started to coupon was that many times if you buy MORE items at the store you can spend LESS money. I know--it seems like the strangest kind of logic! Crazy even! Let me show you how I bought more items in order to get what I *really* needed for nearly free!
I bought some RedPlum inserts earlier in the week online (b/c of the amazing coupons!). I paid $5 for 5 inserts--I actually had money in my PayPal account from *selling* coupons I didn't need for Formula (p.s. you can't actually sell coupons but you can sell your time to cut and list them on ebay =) so these were technically *free*.
So I went to Rite Aid today because I needed tissues
(my husband has SEVERE allergies at the moment--poor lamb!).
Here's my transaction:
5 Nivea Body Wash $3.50 (said $3.99 on sticker but came up cheaper!)
2 Lysol Wipes Bogo $3.49
4 Covergirl Makeup BOGO (used my leftover BOGO coupons so = 0)
4 Kleenex tissue boxes
= $25 ish
-$5/$25 printable
-5 $4/1 Nivea 5/2 RP
-2 $1/1 Lysol 4/25 SS
=.51
That's *51* precious little cents for all that jazz when all I *really* needed to get my hands on were some tissues!
It was so good I sent my husband back for more =) I supposed you could say the *need* in this scenario is the chocolate. 'cause I needs it to survive!! =) also, dark chocolate makes for some amazing chocolate chunk cookies...mmm.......sorry. sidetracked. =)
He bought:
5 Nivea Men @ super secret $3.50 sale price
2 Lysol Wipes BOGO $3.49
2 Ghirardelli Dark Chocolate Bars 2/$3
=$25 ish
-$5/$25
-5 $3/1 Nivea Men
-2 $1/1 Lysol 4/25 SS
-$1/2 Ghirardelli
=.99 cents (plux tax)So do some investigating, buy extra coupons if you have extra money to invest and get the things you need and some fun extras for next-to-nearly-nothing. =)
